The Buddhist Temple
Introduction
Have you been to the Buddhist temple, well I have and i’ll be telling you what it's like. The Buddhist temple is a place where people visit and know all about their religion. Going to the Temple isn’t gonna change your religion it’s gonna teach you about good things in life like the 3 goods and the 4 givings.
First we hopped in the bus and we were on our way to the Buddhist temple. We were so excited but some of us were terrified. It was a long adventure but we managed to get there in time. If you're wondering where the Buddhist temple is in Flat bush where Manukau is. When we hopped off we felt even more excited because we were gonna experience what the Buddhist temple’s like.
Next we followed our leader to the entrance and we had to stay in our lines. There was a lady there and she welcomed us, she also taught us how to greet people in their language.
Then we went inside and we saw a statue of Buddha. I was in group one and we first went into this place where we watched a movie about Buddha. If you want to know what Buddha was like he was a humble man helping kids but those people had to respect Buddha.
After watching we went to the courtyard and it looked beautiful. Our 2nd activity was a lady teaching us the meaning of the courtyard. It was a charming decoration and it was a chinese pattern. Then we went to another lady and we had to grab this wooden thing and tipped it slowly on the left shoulder and say I vow to do good deeds and do the same thing to the right shoulder and the back but say I vow to say good words and think good thoughts. After we went to another activity and it was tracing over the lines and we didn’t use a pen we used a traditional pen. The finished product looked so fabulous and we could also take it home.
Finally they gave us congee and inside was rice and vegetable, we also had water in a little container. The congee made us fool but some people went for 2nd’s or they even had 6 bowls of congee. When we finished our yummy food we went inside this place that looked so nice. They also had our paper we wrote that we vow (promise) to do something throughout our lives. After we settled down, there were four policies in front of us. They picked 5 lucky people to act out a scenario. While they were practicing their act we got to ask some questions till they came back. When they came back the scenario was about if you’ll pick the evil side or the good side. He first picked temptation but for the 2nd answer he picked conscience. Lastly they said we could ask more questions and I learnt that the police's favorite snack is a donut. Some were old, some were young but they loved their job. Lastly we went back to the entrance and we said bye then hopped in the bus, we came a bit late like around 3.00pm but it’s better late than never.
I felt tired but i'm glad that I had fun and learned a few things. I’d love to go to the Buddhist temple again with the school.
